Mi5 Networks Named Visionary by Gartner
in Magic Quadrant for Secure Web Gateways
Mi5 Appliances Recognized for Innovation,
Malware Protection and Performance
SUNNYVALE, Calif – June 14, 2007 –
Mi5 Networks today announced that it was named a visionary company by leading industry research firm Gartner in their first Magic Quadrant Report on Secure Web Gateways (SWG). This new category of products filters unwanted software/malware from user-initiated Web/Internet traffic and enforces corporate and regulatory policy compliance. Gartner recognized the Mi5 Webgate appliance line for its innovative malware detection and protection capabilities, and high performance/low latency architecture.
“Mi5 Networks is a very promising startup company,” said Peter Firstbrook, research director for Gartner. “The company has developed its own streaming inspection architecture, which enables bidirectional malware scanning of all ports and protocols with low latency.”
According to Gartner, SWGs must be completely transparent to the end user’s Web-surfing experience. As a result, large enterprises will have a much-smaller field of candidates to select from because of scalability and reliability demands. Scanning large network pipes for malware with low latency is difficult.
“Being recognized as a visionary by Gartner in the rapidly-growing category for Secure Web Gateways reflects the great accomplishments of the Mi5 development team,” said Doug Camplejohn, founder and CEO of Mi5 Networks. “By building a high performance web malware protection platform from the ground-up, Mi5 has been able to deliver a secure web gateway that delivers category-leading malware detection and performance for our customers.”
